The Scotia Highland Dancers and Voyage of Irish Dance are competitive Highland and Irish
Dancers based in Newcastle, NSW.
The Scotia girls train extensively in traditional Highland Dance and compete at national and
international competitions throughout the year. At public events they enjoy performing
choreographed versions of favorite Highland dances such as the Sean Truibhas, Sword
Dance, Reels as well as the softer National Dances and rare scripted dances.
The team from Voyage of Irish Dance train and compete in traditional Irish Dances such as the
Reel, Jigs, and Hornpipe. They perform regularly at local events and enjoy choreographing
traditional dances to suit a team.
When performing together, Voyage of Irish Dance and Scotia Highland Dancers enjoy
combining traditional Highland Dance with Irish Dance in choreographed dances which
demonstrate the versatility of both dance forms and their similarities/differences.
